So did you ENJOY Aretha Franklin's EXTENDED version of 'The Star Spangled Banner'? In case you missed it,before kickoff at the Lions vs Vikings game Thursday,Franklin sang the national anthem at Ford Field. And she certainly put her own spin on the performance.
The soulful Detroit legend played piano while belting out "The Star-Spangled Banner" for 4 minutes and 35 seconds. Now Aretha is a LEGEND and can pretty much DO WHAT SHE WANTS, right?? Some people RAVED about her performance, while others---NOT SO MUCH!! Take a LOOK and LISTEN and see what side of the DEBATE you are on!
Aretha Franklin is pretty far up at the top of the list of folks who can take however long they want with the national anthem.— Dan Graziano (@DanGrazianoESPN) November 24, 2016
Aretha Franklin just delivered the national anthem with about 5 minutes of heartfelt soul. Worth blasting past the 12:30 kickoff, for sure.— Bob Wojnowski (@bobwojnowski) November 24, 2016
Now some others DISAGREED...
I appreciate Aretha Franklin's place in music history, but her rendition of the national anthem was downright self indulgent.— Paul Charchian (@PaulCharchian) November 24, 2016
Some responses were just FUNNY...
Aretha: Let's sing it short and sweet, just like we rehearsed— Smoochie Middleton (@VinceBednarik) November 24, 2016

I am not sure what side I'm on.. i didn't make it past the 2 minute mark... LOL....Kaepernick would've developed arthritis in his knee for kneeling so long if the 49ers were playing while Aretha Franklin sang the anthem— Brock (@BrockOgami) November 24, 2016
