Did you ever think you needed a 'guide' to the art of 'PIMPIN'? Well Just in case you did, MTV's "The Situation" offers you a a bit of advice with the assistance of teen heart-throb Justin Bieber. I thought this clip was funny. Neither of these two obviously know anything about 'PIMPIN', or do they?  And if you didn't grasp it, its the trailer to Justin Bieber's upcoming movie that hits theaters February 11, 2011!

One in a MILLION-Aaliyah

Hmmmmm, Just imagine what music would be like if we still had this music sensation with us here on Earth.

This song was just in my head so I decided to do a post for the late, great Aaliyah.
You are truly missed...

The 9th Annual Honda Battle of the Bands

On this past Saturday the Georgia Dome was rocked by 8 amazing bands from 8 different fine HBCU's.  That's right, it was the 9th Annual Honda Battle of the Bands.  For those that missed out, you missed of heck of a show.  These colleges really showcased their talents on the field proving that the football field is not just made for football, but for marching band.  This is so important in times where music programs are being cut from some schools due to budget issues.  These college students proved that music matters, because it takes a lot of time, patience and talent to balance school, grades and performing on the band.  I can speak from experience of marching on such a band, and performing in an event like this is no easy task.  I applaud all of the performers, directors, band affiliates, and parents for a job well done.  The explosive show features bands from Albany State, Tennessee State, Virginia State, Clark-Atlanta, Jackson State, Winston-Salem State, South Carolina State University and Bethune-Cookman College.

All the bands did an outstanding job.  From the first beat of the drum, you could not help but feel the excitement that the performers must've felt.  One of my personal favorites was the Bethune-Cookman College band.  With precision and skill this band formed the 'deuces' sign on the field as well as the Atlanta Falcons logo.  That takes sheer talent.  My hat goes off to all the bands that participated in Saturdays event.

There was also a performance by Hip-Hop star and actor Bow-Wow.
Bow-Wow, literally took over The Dome as he performed around the entire facility!

For those that missed out, well, there is always next year.  I am sure there will be a host of surprises for the 10th annual event.  For highlights on what you missed, go to the official Honda Battle of the Bands website.

The 'Real Housewives' of Atlanta- Finale

I am sure a lot of people were tuned into the RHOA season 3 finale on last night. SO? What are your thoughts? Well I am sure everyone knew that Bravo wasn't going to let the wedding not happen, but it was sure a lot of pre-fab 'drama' leading up to the nuptials. For people that keep up with media, the wedding pics were in Essence magazine, so we know some type of ceremony took place. No cliffhanger there. I must say that I was a bit underwhelmed by this season. The storyline seemed quite contrived and seems to be wearing thin. I mean putting NeNe and Kim on a bust together, really, what did you EXPECT to happen? And Kim conveniently sees NeNe's interview with Jermaine Dupri that referenced her and her singing. Come on producers, you guys can do better than that. And where was Dwight this whole season. I guess he was replaced with a younger honorary 'housewife', Ms. Lawrence as he is called now. Needless to say, RHOA is still a big guilty pleasure that provides some form of entertainment. I am sure they are busy crafting new storylines for the next season even as we speak. My predictions, Sheree maybe gone next season. She was all but absent from most of this season and the introduction of an older daughter that we heard nothing about did not seem to help. They may focus on Kim's budding romance and their upcoming parenthood trials. Kandi, the fan-fave may delve into a more darker area much like that of NeNe. We saw glimpses of her being a bit of an instigator when it came to Phaedra's paternity and the bus fight with NeNe and Kim. And we may see more of 'Ms Lawrence'. He added the much needed comic relief to some of the 'situations', and the guy can actually sing. So who knows? But even the people that hate on the RHOA, they will be tuned in next season to see the shenanigans all ever again.

Unrest in Egypt enters its 7th day.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak swore in a new cabinet today replacing one dissolved as a concession to unprecedented anti-government protests.
Still the new Cabinet is unlikely to satisfy the tens of thousands of protesters demanding the removal of the entire Mubarak regime.

"We don't recognize any decisions Mubarak has taken since Jan. 25," Mostafa el-Naggar, a supporter of prominent reform advocate Mohamed ElBaradei, referring to the first day of the protests. "This is a failed attempt — he is done with."

The unrest in Egypt enters its 7th day. More than 100 people have died during the protests.

Moment for Life-Nicki Minaj Video- feat. Drake

We've been getting snake peaks, trailers, teasers for the video for weeks.  Now it's finally here in its entirety.  I think the images are pretty cool.  I could've done without the banter at the beginning with Nicki and "GodMother', but oh well. It is what it is.

What are your thought on the video???

Flashback Fridays: Mary J. Blige

Do you remember when music was sooooooooo good.  People actually bought CD's.  And you could actually listen to an entire disc without skipping a song?  Wow those were the days and one such CD was Mary J. Blige's 'My Life' disc.  This cd was on point from beginning to end.  Truly classic MJB.  One of my favorite joints from the album was "Be Happy".  Mary has done interviews to say that the time she recorded this disc, she was facing a lot of demons and she was not happy at the time.  In times of pain we sometimes are the most creative.  Anguish brings out some of our best work.  It's funny how that goes sometimes.  But, such is life.

The Challenger: 25 years later

Do you remember where you were or what you were doing on January 28, 1986? I can remember being glued to the tlevision even as a small child to look at the World's 1st high-tech cataatrophe unfold live--the explosion of The Challenger Space Shuttle. Just 73 seconds into flight, 9 miles above the Atlantic, for all to see.

Looking at his tragedy unfold today still brings chills and a deep sense of loss. It was like reliveing it all over again. I couldn't continue to watch the above clip. Being older and understanding more, I can nott begin to imagine what the families of those lost must have felt.
NASA safely had launched shuttles 24 times before, and a sense of routine and hurry-it-up had crept in. The space agency wanted to pull off 15 missions in 1986. Repeated delays with Columbia on that year's first flight and then with Challenger were spoiling the effort.

The first federal Martin Luther King holiday had just been observed. NASA's Voyager 2 probe, flying farther than any previous spacecraft, had swung past Uranus, discovering 10 new moons. "That's What Friends Are For," the AIDS charity anthem, topped the music charts. And a 37-year-old schoolteacher from Concord, N.H., was about to rocket into orbit.

In the 20s at daybreak, the temperature had risen only into the mid-30s by the time Challenger blasted off at 11:38 a.m. "Go at throttle up," radioed commander Francis "Dick" Scobee.

What happened next was unthinkable, his widow says.

"It was really a shock wave that went across our country and around the world," June Scobee Rodgers said in an interview this week with The Associated Press. "People witnessed the loss of Challenger over and over on their televisions."

Dick Scobee. Michael Smith. Ellison Onizuka. Judith Resnik. Ronald McNair. Christa McAuliffe. Gregory Jarvis. The first of the shuttle astronauts to die on the job.

We pause to today to remember those brave astronauts that lost their lives 25 year ago in the name of space exploration.  Their courage and determination will live on in our hearts and minds.

Jeffrey Williams wins 'The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection'

And the Winner is!!!! Jeffrey Williams

Some kids grow up reading National Geographic or comic books. For Jeffrey Williams, it was Italian Vogue.
"That was my bible," said the Seattle native, after his Tuesday night win on "The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection," a Bravo TV competition for runway designers. "I've always wanted to be creative with clothes, even before I knew what designing was."
With a collection of flowy dresses in white, gray and red, Williams bested 11 other contestants from all over the country, winning $125,000 plus a fashion spread in Harper's Bazaar magazine come March
Jeffrey's road to victory started off a bit rocky.  He was close to being eliminated on of the 1st challenges the contestants faced.  But he was spared and that close call must have ignited a fire under him.  He went on to win challenge after challenge until he was the last man standing.
It was one of his older sisters, Baionne Williams, who encouraged him to apply to the show, and his late mother who inspired his winning dress — a gown in red, her favorite color. Williams' mother died in 2004 of
breast cancer.

The Braxtons: A Family Affair

Toni Braxton and her famous singing sisters will be coming to a screen near you really soon.  Braxton, joined by her sisters Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar of the R&B group The Braxtons, hits airwaves on April 12.  The show will chronicle music first and foremost and how the sisters interact as they try to reconquer the music business.  'Braxton Family Values' will air on the WE Network.  What can we expect from this show you might wonder? Toni: goes on to say
"I don’t think people have any idea what they’re about to see. They have no idea. I’m Miss Congeniality. That’s all I can say. My family’s very animated and it’ll be entertaining."
Will there be drama?

"There will be some personal things about everyone. My mom and my sister Tamar will probably be the drama."
Toni is no stranger to fame and the viewing eyes being fixed on her.

Braxton has won six Grammy Awards in her career and has sold 40 million records worldwide. She has a contralto vocal range. Braxton topped the Billboard 200 with her 1993 self-titled debut album and continued that streak with her second studio album Secrets, which spawned the number-one hits "You're Makin' Me High" and "Un-Break My Heart". Although she had successful albums and singles, Braxton shortly filed for bankruptcy, but then returned with her chart-topping third album, The Heat. In 2009, she returned to the spotlight with "Yesterday", a #12 R&B hit which serves as the first single off her new album Pulse, released on May 4, 2010, which debuted at #1 on Billboard R&B Album Chart. Braxton was featured on the 7th season of the reality show Dancing with the Stars.

The Braxton family is a very famous singing family much like the Jacksons.  I feel they often get overlooked, but the talent is abundant. The group The Braxtons first include Toni and all of her sisters.
In 1990, they released their first single, "Good Life". It would be their only single as a fivesome. "Good Life" was not a hit and The Braxtons were dropped from Arista Records, but Toni Braxton's lead vocals caught the attention of Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds who were in the process of forming LaFace Records and signed Toni as the label's first female solo artist. The Braxtons broke up. In 1996, three out of the four remaining Braxtons, Trina, Tamar and Towanda reunited and released their album So Many Ways, including a cover of Diana Ross's hit "The Boss". The fourth remaining Braxton sister, Traci was not allowed to sign with the group due to her pregnancy at the time. The Braxtons officially disbanded for good after So Many Ways when Tamar Braxton also went solo. Once solo, Tamar garnered moderate success with her debut album 'Tamar' that spawned the hits 'Get None' and 'If you don't wanna Love me.'

All of the sisters are super-sexy. I am routing for this family.  I hope the show is a big hit because I think these young ladies' talent gets overlooked.  Toni is a powerhouse singer that is forever changing her style to stay cutting edge. 'Pulse' was a great album and one of the standout singles from this disc was "Make my heart".  This single and video proves that Toni can evolve with the times and still keep up with the new crop of R&B divas that she helped to mold.

Guess who?????

Guess which member of one of the World's biggest Hip-Hop groups is legally blind??  This artist, dee-jays, breakdances, sings and always entertains to the max but can not see.  In his own words he says, "I can't see shit!"

Still stumped
Apl.de.ap, from the Black-Eyed Peas-the one with the mohawk- is visually-impaired!

Due to a rare life long condition called nystagmus--which makes his eyeballs constantly vibrate, resulting in chronic blurry vision and severe nearsightedness, Apl's vision is poor that even with optimal contacts for his condition he is still legally blind.  But has this slowed the singer down?  NOPE!  He has won 6 Grammy's with the group, break-danced all over the world and will rock out at this year's Super Bowl Halftime show.  How does he do it, you might ask.  "When I dance, I picture myself and the floor in my head."  He adds that people in motion are big enough for him to make out.

During rehearsals, he moves more slowly in order to familiarize himself with his new surroundings. Close pals know of his challenges, but the Filipino-born singer rarely speaks about it. "I'm comfortable not using my vision. I weave around my problems." Now that's a glowing testimony we can all live by. No matter what obstacles lie in front of you, there's always a way to maneuver around it.

State of The Union

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama addressed the Nation givein his 2nd State of the Union declaring that the nation faces big decisions like those it confronted at the dawn of the space race.  Barack Obama called for sweeping bipartisan "investments" in science, education and infrastructure in his State of the Union address Tuesday night — all without increasing government spending.  He spoke of the need to maintain America’s leadership in a rapidly changing world so that our economy remains competitive. In order to do so, we have to put forth a plan to help the U.S. win the future by “out-innovating, out-educating and out-building our global competition”.

At the same time, Obama acknowledged that he must accommodate conservatives' demands for restrictions on overall government spending and taxes, proposing a freeze on "annual domestic spending for the next five years."

The president opened by asking for prayers for Giffords and pointing out that one seat remained empty in the House chamber in her honor. Family members of some of the victims joined first lady Michelle Obama in the chamber, where many lawmakers of both parties wore black-and-white lapel pins, signifying the deaths in Tucson.

Game Tweets "I'm Aight!"

Game & Zam Zhinga, originally uploaded by zamzhinga.

Rapper Game was taken to the hospital on Thursday (January 13) after a mishap involving a guitar stunt on the set of a video shoot. Game was supposed to just smash the guitar and when he began destroying the instrument, I am assuming he got a bit too into it or didn't realize his own strength, but a shard from the guitar ripped into his finger, causing his hand to bleed profusely.

He was taken to an L.A. hospital from the "Purp & Yellow" shoot, which also featured appearances from DJ Skee, Ron Artest and NBA player Matt Barnes.

The rapper received several stitches, and the wound was closed.
Game later tweeted , "I'm aight!"

Hit the 'SKINS'! Racy or cutting edge?

What defines 'racy' or 'cutting edge'? Begging the answer to this question is a salacious new show on MTV. Finally the hit U.K. drama 'Skins' has been adapted for the U.S. The show chronicles a group of racy teens, the sex they have and drugs they use. THESE TEENS TAKE THESE ISSUES TO AN ALL NEW LEVEL. The show has been called child pornography because many of the graphic sex scenes involve actors under the age of 18. What to you guys think? Take a a look.

Oprah's BIG Secret: REVEALED!

Oprah has a BIG family secret that she just found out about recently. Well the cat is out of the bag. Oprah Winfrey has a half-sister that she never knew about. Oprah's sister Patricia was given up for adoption at an early age and Winfrey's mother never told her. Patricia bounced around in the foster care system and was finally adopted at the age of 7.

Start your ENGINES! Life can be such a DRAG...

Everybody has guilty little pleasures, fetishes and the like, that we don;t care to share with the world. A fan favorite guilty pleasure on TV is returning tonight, RuPaul's Drag Race returns. "May the best 'WOMAN' win!" Either you like it or hate it, this show makes for entertainment on overdrive. Initially I was leery of watching this show because of a past fear of clowns. Up close and personal with a drag artist can be a bit disconcerting, but you have to admit RuPaul serves up a healthy slice of kitsch, camp, and glamour with this show. The DRAG-testants compete in an array of challenges hoping to best the other and be the last woMAN standing. Closer examination of Drag proves that it is indeed an art form. Straight, gay, bi anybody can get into this show because it is done well and quite entertaining to boot---whether you admit in or not! LOL
Rupaul's Drag Race Season 3 premiers tonight on LOGO!

'The Game' still posting huge numbers!

It's apparent that the viewers are loving the new season of BET's 'The Game'.  'The Game' is still pulling in huge numbers.  This past Tuesday's episode posted 5.9 million viewers! Congratulations to the cast crew and BET!  I missed it , but I hears a lot of talk about it.  But here' s a SNEAK PEAK at Tuesday's episode!

Minaj MANIA takes over London!!!!

It seems that MINAJ MANIA has crossed the pond to the U.K.  Nicki Minaj, Grammy-Nominated, Platinum-selling female hip-hop artist recently took London by storm.  Fans and paparrazi flocked outside of the YoungMoney femcee's Dorchester Hotel in London over the weekend hoping to get a glimpse of the artist.  Minaj gratefully posted on Twitter, "The london barbz r giving me life! They're so passionate. They're still @ the hotel.”Minaj even invited a few of her lucky fans up to her hotel room for a spot of tea and scones.  Minaj Mania is obviously spreading.  Hate it or love it, this femcee is here for a minute and she is definitely making her presence know on a global scale.  Everyone did not share the same feeling.  Later this weekend Minaj tweeted that she had been 'kicked' out of The Dorchester Hotel due to the hysteria and mobs of fans and paps.

With all the love that Nicki Minaj has received in London, it just makes the words of her next single, "Moment for Life" all the more poignant! Continued success to this young artist!

CARS, CARS CARS!!!

What's your DREAM car? I have always had a fascination with fast exotic cars. Be it a Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini or a Porsche, the faster the better. A fine car tells a lot about a person. Recently I was fortunate to test drive the 2011 Porsche Cayenne at a private event hosted by R&B diva Monica and Neyo.

Take a look at whats coming to you live and new for 2011 from Porsche.

Monica was beautiful as always and a great host for the event.  She even took a spin in one of the Porsche Cayenne's herself.
